Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) will host a side event at the second Africa Climate Summit (ACS-2) on 5 September 2025, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Organised under the theme “Accelerating Global Climate Solutions: Financing for Africa’s Resilient and Green Development,” the event will bring together key partners from across the continent to strengthen Africa’s collective voice on climate and economic justice. The side event will ensure Africa’s presence and demands are central and heard in continental and global policy forums as negotiations intensify.
Building on the outcomes of TJNA’s 2024 Sustainable Climate Finance and Taxation in Africa Civil Society Learning Event and the inaugural Africa Climate Summit, the meeting will take stock of progress, revisit shared positions, and chart joint advocacy strategies ahead of ACS-2 and Conference of the Parties (COP30).
Discussions will focus on the intersection between tax and climate justice, green mineral governance, fossil fuel subsidy reform, carbon markets, and Africa’s role in reshaping the global financial and tax architecture.
The event is expected to produce several key outputs, including a consolidated position paper to guide advocacy efforts at continental and global forums. Additionally, participants will develop a roadmap for engaging with crucial policy processes at the African Union (AU), the African Development Bank (AfDB), COP30, and broader UN negotiations.
TJNA aims to ensure Africa advances bold, equitable solutions that address climate finance gaps, curb illicit financial flows, and support a just transition for the continent.
